Rouge Studios’ collaboration with Blur Studio and Amazon Prime Video on SECRET LEVEL showcased the power of performance capture in bringing diverse gaming worlds to animated life. Working alongside creative visionary Tim Miller – a longtime collaborator – and under the direction of David Fincher, we contributed to four episodes of this ambitious 15-episode anthology that celebrates the artistry of video games. Our full performance capture work laid the groundwork for authentic character performances across wildly different narratives: rebellious mining robots battling for survival in Unreal Tournament’s brutal arenas, battle-hardened Space Marines confronting their legacy in the grim universe of Warhammer 40,000, a desperate father’s race against time through the galactic frontier in Exodus, and a young prodigy’s challenge against an all-knowing AI in Honor of Kings.

The technical demands of translating raw human performance into these fantastical characters required precision and artistry at every stage. Our comprehensive post-processing expertise ensured that the emotional nuance and physical authenticity captured on our stage seamlessly integrated into Blur Studio’s stunning animation pipeline. Through our close partnership with Tim Miller and the exceptionally talented artists at Blur, we helped transform each performance into the polished sequences that define this groundbreaking anthology, proving once again that great storytelling – whether in games or animation – begins with capturing genuine human emotion and experience.
